#Ownyourautonomy is a global initiative started through the Association for Project Management volunteer group the People Interest Network. The focus is on engaging with the world to remind everyone we are autonomous and the more deliberate we are the more predictable our results are. Too many of us feel victims of circumstance and drift through life – this isn’t as awesome as having everyone owning their journey and engaging with everyone and everything around them as much as possible.
In short #OwnYourAutonomy is about getting everyone into more awesome spaces to deliver everything they can with everything they have.
We have a slide deck here:
Own Your Autonomy – APM – Live – Google Slides
We need everyone involved to deliver the message. We all know everyone is awesome, but how do we get everyone supporting that message all of the time and even more importantly getting individuals to own their journey rather than relying on external reinforcement/affirmation?

Participants in #OwnYourAutonomy are invited to complete this survey:

Results are looked at before and after any activity and the aim is to deliver individuals who feel they are aligned to the statements as much as possible.

In 2020/21 as the effects of Covid had truly taken hold globally and brought huge challenges for all of us to get better at performing at distance and potentially in isolation, the APM (Association for Project Management) Leadership Focus Group, a sub focus group of the APM People Interest Network explored the Tribe365® High Performing Team Members (HPTM®) programme 5 values to improve the way project managers interact with projects.

The collaboration resulted in a workstream identified as #OwnYourAutonomy
Contributors came from all project management backgrounds, but with one focus: creating leadership content that positioned us better to deliver “a world where all projects succeed”.
#ownyourautonomy was all about individual empowerment facilitating project managers being in as great a space as possible.
In late 2023 the Focus Group released an initial version of #OwnYourAutonomy
The content fell short as there was a missing link to Neuroscience. Duxinaroe Neuroscience gurus David Bovis and Levent Turk were added to the
#ownyourautonomy journey and in December 2024 the next version was delivered with a strong alignment to leading Neuroscience.
