Culture and Leadership for CEO’s, Boards, Directors and Managers

Culture, Leadership and Behaviours Workshop for CEO’s, Boards, Directors and Managers

The world has understood culture and leadership are critical to performance and some of the biggest organisations are appointing Chief Culture Officers. Start your journey to becoming a leader who understands culture inside out and knows how to get the most out of people with minimal stress and investment.

Who are Tribe365® and What is HPTM®?

Tribe365® are a Darlington (North East England) based culture, leadership and behaviours consultancy which developed the HPTM® (High Performing Team Members) framework in 2019. The HPTM® framework forms part of the mental strength programme for back to back world rugby champions South Africa Rugby 7’s side (The Blizboks) as well as Elite Sports Academy Stellenbosch Academy of Sport; This is a strong endorsement of the effectiveness, forward thinking and innovation HPTM® delivers to culture, leadership and behaviours.

What is the Tribe365® HPTM® Culture, Leadership and Behaviours Workshop?

The workshop equips leaders with information to drive positive behaviour change within their teams and build the best foundation for positive growth culture. The workshop has the following modules:

Morning Session

  • 2 Laws of Human Action: Belief and Choice and some Neuroscience (Behaviours)
  • Understand the 5 HPTM® systems (Behaviours)
  • Drive performance in yourself (Behaviours)
  • Coaching others to perform (Leadership)
  • Shaping performance of teams (Leadership)
  • Bringing multiple teams together (Culture)
  • Measuring and Driving Performance of environments (Culture)

Afternoon Session

  • Drafting Action Plans for Culture, Leadership and Behaviours (Individual, Team, Organisation)

The 5 HPTM ® systems are:

Belief – Everyone must buy 100% into what they do

Balance – Everyone must prioritise themselves and manage their conditions

Inclusiveness – Everyone must value everyone and everything to build forwards

Structure – Everyone must respect all structure and help it evolve

Honesty – Everyone must offload the moment things occur

The 5 HPTM® systems provide an acute focus bringing simplicity and scalability to everything we do, allowing us as leaders to support others, shape direction and performance-manage culture, leadership and behaviours.

Why do CEO’s, Board Members, Directors and Managers need to do a Workshop?

Any effective and scalable shift in behaviours requires top down buy in. Becoming a leader who can support and drive positive culture, leadership and behaviour change will require a certain degree of belief, understanding, knowledge and confidence. These workshops will deliver all this and form the baseplate for mapping how you may drive change within your environments.

Why are Culture, Leadership and Behaviours linked together?

There is an inescapable link between Culture, Leadership and Behaviours:

  • Behaviour is what we see in individuals and indicates where culture and leadership might be
  • Leadership is what we see in teams and influences behaviours and indicates where culture might be
  • Culture is a summary of an environment and influences everything

The 5 HPTM® systems (Belief, Balance, Inclusiveness, Structure and Honesty) form a golden thread that connects Culture, Leadership and Behaviours together and supports common language and understanding bringing unity and strength between Organisation, Teams and Individuals.

We already work on Leadership and Behaviours, do we need more?

There is a lot of work around leadership and behaviours, however if we don’t understand culture it is akin to building castles on sand – not as stable as you want and when a storm comes everything can be undone very quickly.

Leaders who understand the 5 HPTM® systems (Belief, Balance, Inclusiveness, Structure, Honesty) and form a golden thread through Culture, Leadership and Behaviours, will build the strongest base for all future Leadership and Behaviours work. Remember; none of the current Leadership and Behaviours work will be wrong, but, drawing on a gym analogy, we need to work on the inner core first before we realise any benefits of the cardiac and strengthening work, worse still the work we are already doing could be doing a lot of harm. Pulling ourselves into a more responsible space where we do much less harm requires us to understand brains (Duxinaroe – BTFA™) and culture (HPTM®)

What is Culture?

Culture is the summary of an environment where people are involved, it draws on everything that constitutes that environment. We may use words to summarise the type of culture, for instance a high-performance culture, but everything that goes on within the environment forms part of that culture. For a more detailed exploration of cultures for growth link here Understand and Implement Cultures For Growth and Performance – Tribe 365

Is working on culture important for Leaders?

Humans have brains which are pre-configured for survival (Duxinaroe – BTFA™) and this can mean when we are up against it (in a bad space) behaviours which serve our own purpose and potentially no-one else’s might be seen. We are human right? But this can be catastrophic. The effect on others the moment we prioritise our own emotions (thoughts, feelings etc.) above others can be a butterfly effect towards worse and worse behaviours, ultimately the worst behaviours we can imagine in society.

If leaders want to create environments where we all thrive and prosper and deliver the best we can with what we’ve got we have to set some frameworks that help us all reflect and adjust, making sure we are not prioritising our own emotions above everyone else and doing a lot of harm in the process.

For added weight we will also draw on Korn Ferry research:

Is there a right way of configuring culture, leadership and behaviours?

100% “Yes”, if you want an environment for growth, innovation, resilience, fulfilment, speed and continual improvement running through the veins of every part of your environment, there are essential components. These are:

Belief – A shared focus we are all striving for

Balance – Everyone prioritising themselves and managing that 100%

Inclusiveness– Everyone valuing everything and everyone to build forwards

Structure – Everyone respecting all structure for where it is and helping it evolve

Honesty – Everyone offloading the moment things occur

What are the Challenges we all face with Culture, Leadership and Behaviours?

There are various challenges we face when starting to get Culture, Leadership and Behaviours into the right space:

We don’t understand how brains work

A lot of what we do in society doesn’t consider the impact on brains and until we understand and value brains this is likely to continue. To stop the brain-toxic cycle we must have leaders who understand the basics of brains and act to ensure there is constant activity to safeguard positive brain positions. To support getting this right we work with the best in the game Duxinaroe – BTFA™

We inherit a lot of Top-Down thinking

A lot of society still believes in leaders (or leadership layer) having the responsibility of finding direction for all of us, this is neither good nor bad. However if we want to create the best spaces for everyone thriving and supporting better we need to find a better balance in the relationship.
As long as we maintain strong top-down structures the potential for harm will always be there, it may not be instantly visible. The moment we exclude others we are more than likely harming them, visibly/invisibly. Understanding this to a reasonable level requires the 6 week BTFA™ Neuroscience programme with Duxinaroe, and why we would encourage anyone with any responsibility over others to get on the course.
The current picture for a lot of organisations looks as follows:

There is a lot of Culture, Leadership and Behaviours material out there

There is a lot of material out there and understanding where to begin is complex. HPTM® is the framework that will always be valid no matter the challenge in front of you, it is valid for individuals, teams and organisations and covers off behaviours leadership and culture with the same five systems (Belief, Balance, Inclusiveness, Structure, Honesty) bringing simplicity and scalability for true transformation. Full benefits realisation is probably only realistic if leaders also have the BTFA foundation as the likelihood of 100% belief in the value of the work will only come from understanding how brains work.

The HPTM® and BTFA® programmes form the baseplate for all other work around culture, leadership and behaviours; for instance empathetic leadership, stakeholder engagement, servant leaders etc.

Hard to define ROI:

Defining Return on Investment on culture, leadership and behaviours work is tough. It takes a lot longer to see the returns and defining what has impacted what is convoluted. But this doesn’t mean we can’t. The areas we target are:

Sentiment Measures: Happy people do awesome work, right? We measure how happy team members are on a daily basis, this forms our sentiment index.  Tip: You can create a mood face survey online and distribute daily to team members, we aim for 4pm every day. Baseline before the workshops and measure after at regular intervals.

Engagement Measures: Highly engaged teams are likely to smash it, right? We measure engagement on a daily basis, this forms our engagement index. Tip: You can create a few indicators denoting an engaged team member, for us high engagement is defined by team members using our platform and interacting and reflecting any thoughts or feelings. We have a 24/7 responsive engagement score.

Impact on Performance: Getting culture and leadership into the right space should see all performance indicators positively impacted over time. This means greater innovation, speed, proactivity and growth. Tip: Baselining margins, error rates (RFT), profitability etc. before the workshop and measuring at regular intervals post workshop will indicate the positive impact.

Summary

The space of Culture, Leadership and Behaviours is full of do’s and don’ts and best ways forwards, none of it is wrong, however a lot of it depends on circumstance and people involved. The Tribe 365® HPTM® (High Performing Team Members) programme 5 systems (Belief, Balance, Inclusiveness, Structure, Honesty) grounded with Duxinaroe BTFA™ Neuroscience Programme gives all Leaders a consistent framework to work with ensuring maximum Respectful, Happy, Engaged, Open &Honest, Motivated and Aligned Individuals, Teams and Organisations.
